PREPRINTING PROCESS

Manuscript editing can be done using the application PageMaker, Microsoft Publisher or Freehand. At this stage a new concentration on the process of editing the text either on grammar, style, consistency of spelling, terminology, formulas, tables, pictures and images, capital letters, italics, bold, size of letters in the title of the chapter, section and text , decoding of words, compound words, and punctuation.

When the editing process is complete, the next step is to print the text on A4 paper HVS with the sequence of page numbers are still in their original format of the authors. The difference now all the writing techniques have been adapted to the publisher policy. To be economical, printing is performed using a color ink jet printer, laser printer instead. This printing is made  to be corrected again by the author.

It is possible that the authors not only corrected the editor edits, but often  the author making addition or subtraction of contents. After the correction of the authors finished and then brought back to the publisher's office to do the change, addition or reduction of the content of the manuscript. The manuscript then be printed and brought to the author's corrected. Processes like this can happen many times until the author was satisfied with the result of the manuscript printing. As a final sign that the correction is already ok ready to go into the production process, the authors sign the ACC in the manuscript printing.

Before entering into the production process need to be discussed in advance with the leadership of the company and the author about the book size and number of pages, paper materials, both for its content and for the cover. The results of this discussion is then poured in the form of Production Data. Editor then contact the production department with a script file and the manuscript printing and production data sheet. The head of the production department and then assign prefabricated parts, particularly the graphic design to design the book according to the details as stated in the data sheet production. In the process of this graphic design at the same time also set to use any printing machine and how many pages for each plate.

The production data is used by graphic designer  to draw up katern pages.
